Iran’s Supreme Leader says statements by US and Israeli leaders can be used as evidence in international legal proceedings

June 28, 2026: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has called for legal action against the United States and Israel, accusing them of committing crimes against Iran during the recent conflict. In a statement, he said the deaths of civilians, including children, elderly people and senior Iranian officials, should be investigated through both domestic and international courts. Khamenei argued that public remarks made by American and Israeli leaders amounted to admissions that could strengthen Iran’s legal case.

Khamenei said every alleged crime committed against Iran should become part of formal legal proceedings and insisted that justice must be pursued for what he described as violations of the Iranian nation’s rights. His remarks came as Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated that Tehran would maintain exclusive oversight of the Strait of Hormuz for the next 30 days. During a visit to Iraq, Araghchi said Iran alone was responsible for managing the strategic waterway and warned that intervention by any other country would only increase tensions.

Araghchi also stated that Iran was working to restore the Strait of Hormuz to full operational capacity once remaining obstacles were cleared. Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards issued a fresh warning, saying they were prepared to respond with greater force if the United States violated the current ceasefire. The latest statements reflect continued tensions in the Gulf despite efforts to maintain the fragile truce.
