A new survey reveals widespread dissatisfaction among Israelis over the recent conflict with Iran

June 21, 2026: A new survey conducted by the Agam Institute in collaboration with the Hebrew University suggests that a large majority of Israelis view the recent conflict with Iran and the subsequent agreement with the United States as an unfavourable outcome for Israel. The findings indicate growing public scepticism about the strategic benefits of the campaign and its long-term impact on the country’s security.

According to the poll, 92.1% of respondents believe Iran emerged as the winner from the conflict, while 86% described the overall outcome as negative. Around 82.9% said the campaign weakened Israel’s long-term security position. The survey also found that 72.5% of participants did not accept Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim that Israel had secured major gains or removed an existential threat. Additionally, 87.8% felt Israel either failed to achieve its objectives or only partially succeeded.

The survey also reflected criticism of Netanyahu’s leadership during the conflict, with 56.4% rating his handling of the campaign as poor or unsuccessful. Despite dissatisfaction with the outcome, support for military action remains significant, as 48.2% of respondents said they would back renewed large-scale operations against Hezbollah even if such a move created tensions with the United States. The survey was conducted between June 17 and June 20 and included 3,644 Israeli respondents aged 17 and above.
