The Delhi High Court is set to pronounce its judgment today in Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav’s ₹9-crore debt case, according to the court’s official cause list.

Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma had reserved the verdict on April 2 after multiple attempts to broker a settlement between the parties failed despite the court’s sustained intervention.

Settlement Talks Break Down

During the final hearing, Rajpal Yadav made an emotional appeal while opposing the proposed settlement. However, the court expressed concern over what it described as inconsistencies in the actor’s position regarding repayment of the outstanding dues.

At one stage during the proceedings, Justice Sharma remarked:

“I am not getting my answers. The undertaking said something else and now you are saying something else.”

The observation reflected the court’s dissatisfaction with the changing submissions made on behalf of the actor during the course of the case.

Complainant Questions Delay in Legal Challenge

Representing the complainant company, advocate Avneet Singh Sikka argued that Yadav had already accepted his conviction and could not subsequently evade his legal obligations.

Sikka also pointed out that the actor’s revision petition, filed in 2024, was delayed by 1,894 days and lacked sufficient justification for condoning the delay.

According to the complainant, the prolonged delay and the absence of adequate grounds weakened the actor’s challenge to the earlier proceedings.

Verdict Expected Today

With settlement efforts proving unsuccessful and arguments from both sides concluded earlier this year, the Delhi High Court is now expected to decide the matter by delivering its judgment today.

The ruling is likely to determine the legal course of action in the long-running ₹9-crore debt dispute involving the Bollywood actor.
