A 33-year-old married woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district, police said on Monday.
The incident took place in Saktuwa village under the Kotwali police station area. According to police officials, the deceased, identified as Bindu, was found dead inside her house on Sunday.
Following a written complaint filed by the woman’s maternal family, police detained her husband, Mrityunjay alias Ajit, for questioning. Authorities said the family raised suspicions regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
Kotwali Station House Officer Rakesh Kumar Rai said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the report is received.
Police said further investigation into the matter is underway.
