Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed attention during training ahead of his team’s crucial FIFA World Cup 2026 group-stage match against Colombia after wearing a pair of eye-catching golden football boots.

The special boots come just days after Ronaldo’s brilliant two-goal performance against Uzbekistan, where he helped Portugal register their first victory of the tournament.

With Portugal aiming to secure a place in the Round of 32, Ronaldo will look to continue his excellent form and strengthen his position in the race for the Golden Boot.

Nike honours Ronaldo with special ‘Gold Scorpion’ boots

According to media, Nike has designed a special golden version of its Mercurial Superfly 11 boots, known as the ‘Gold Scorpion’ edition, to celebrate Ronaldo’s remarkable World Cup achievement.

The boots recognise the Portuguese superstar’s historic feat of scoring in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments, a record no other player has achieved.

The customised boots also feature Ronaldo’s famous ‘CR7’ logo printed in white.

Ronaldo made history against Uzbekistan

Ronaldo entered the Colombia match full of confidence after producing a match-winning display against Uzbekistan.

The veteran striker scored twice, while Nuno Mendes and Rafael Leao also got on the scoresheet. Portugal’s fifth goal came through an own goal by Uzbekistan goalkeeper Abduvohid Nematov.

The convincing victory helped Portugal bounce back after their opening 1-1 draw against DR Congo.

Portugal’s all-time World Cup top scorer

Ronaldo’s brace against Uzbekistan also saw him create another piece of football history.

He became Portugal’s highest-ever goal scorer in FIFA World Cup history, taking his tally to 10 World Cup goals.

In doing so, he moved ahead of Portuguese legend Eusebio, who had scored nine goals at the tournament. Eusebio famously guided Portugal to a third-place finish at the 1966 World Cup and won the 1965 Ballon d’Or.

Former striker Pauleta remains third on Portugal’s all-time World Cup scoring list with four goals.

Historic six-World Cup scoring record

The two goals against Uzbekistan also ended Ronaldo’s 10-match goal drought across major international tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship.

More importantly, he became the first footballer in history to score in six different FIFA World Cup editions, further adding to his remarkable list of records.

Portugal face a decisive match against Colombia

Portugal currently sit second in Group K with four points after one win and one draw.

Meanwhile, Colombia lead the group with two consecutive victories and six points.

A positive result against Colombia will confirm Portugal’s place in the knockout stage and could help them finish at the top of the group.

With Ronaldo back among the goals and confidence growing inside the squad, Portugal will hope to deliver another strong performance as they continue their quest for FIFA World Cup glory.
