Reviewers pay extra attention to deceptive “bait-and-switch” schemes. These dangerous files present themselves as innocent puzzle games or basic calculator utilities during the initial check. After gaining approval, they secretly modify their code from a remote server to commit financial theft. To combat this trick, Apple permanently removed 59,000 apps for utilizing sneaky post-review changes.

The verification team also stopped a wide variety of other policy violations. Specifically, they caught 22,000 apps hiding secret, unlisted code functions. Even the TestFlight beta portal received extra scrutiny, resulting in 2.5 million pre-release blocks.
To protect discovery integrity, machine learning algorithms continuously monitor consumer reviews for fake praise. Thanks to these automated filters, close to 195 million fake ratings never made it to the storefront. Finally, Apple banned 7,800 deceptive apps from search returns and removed 11,500 bad actors from the top charts.

The exclusive Kids segment filters out age-inappropriate ads, which led to 5,000 app rejections this year for breaking safety rules.
