Iran has warned that any ceasefire agreement with the United States must apply across the entire region, including Lebanon

June 1, 2026: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there was “no ambiguity” about the scope of a potential ceasefire and stressed that it would cover all theatres of conflict in the region. He warned that any violation in one area would be considered a breach of the entire agreement and said both the United States and Israel would be responsible for the consequences of such actions.

Separately, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged the country’s challenges and called for greater public cooperation. He said overcoming economic and social difficulties would require awareness, participation and collective effort from all sections of society.

The remarks come amid growing speculation about a broader diplomatic understanding between Iran and the United States. According to Andreas Krieg, any future memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran could include Lebanon. He also suggested that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing pressure to show tangible results from Israel’s regional military operations.
