The arrest of alleged Karachi drug trafficker Anmol alias “Pinky” has triggered intense debate in Pakistan over elite drug networks
May 20, 2026: The arrest of alleged Karachi-based drug trafficker Anmol, popularly known as “Pinky”, has snowballed into a major controversy across Pakistan. What started as a narcotics investigation has now become a nationwide debate involving allegations of elite drug networks, privilege and influential connections. The case, widely dubbed the “Pinky Files” on social media, has captured public attention and sparked comparisons to crime thrillers and political scandals.
According to police claims reported by Dawn, Pinky allegedly operated a sophisticated cocaine supply network in affluent Karachi areas such as DHA and Clifton. Investigators claimed the network extended to cities including Lahore and Islamabad, supplying narcotics to elite party circles, students and influential individuals. Authorities alleged that orders were placed through WhatsApp and mobile applications, while female riders were reportedly used for discreet deliveries. Police also claimed that premium variants of cocaine, referred to as “White Coke” and “Golden Category”, were sold through the network. Public curiosity further intensified after an alleged leaked audio clip surfaced online in which Pinky reportedly referred to herself as a “brand”.
The controversy deepened after videos emerged allegedly showing Pinky appearing in court without handcuffs, prompting accusations of preferential treatment and leading to a departmental inquiry. Social media users across Pakistan have since flooded platforms with memes, commentary and theories about the case, with some comparing it to a television drama. The issue took a political turn after Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reportedly described it as “Pakistan’s version of the Epstein files”, adding to speculation over alleged elite links and underground party culture.
