The conflict between the United States and Iran has intensified after the US launched fresh military strikes targeting Iranian positions following attacks on American forces stationed in Jordan.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation was carried out to weaken Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to respond to attacks allegedly carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against US personnel in Jordan.

US forces operate alongside the Jordanian Armed Forces at several military installations, including the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base. CENTCOM stated that the latest strikes were aimed at reducing future threats and responding swiftly to recent hostilities.

Reports also indicated that at least six missiles struck the outskirts of Iran’s Qeshm Island during the escalation, though details regarding casualties or damage have not been officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, the US military announced that two additional American service members had been killed in the latest confrontation, raising the total number of US fatalities in the conflict to 16.

Reacting to the strikes, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei issued a strong statement, accusing the United States of violating previous understandings and warning that Tehran would deliver “unforgettable lessons” to Washington. He also questioned the credibility of US commitments, describing them as unreliable.

The latest exchange marks another significant escalation in tensions between the two countries, raising concerns about regional stability and the security of international shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
