Phoenix: US President Donald Trump announced on Friday (April 17) that the Pentagon will “very soon” begin declassifying government files related to Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs), hinting that officials have uncovered several “very interesting” documents showing alien activity.

The announcement comes amid mounting pressure from lawmakers on Capitol Hill demanding greater transparency regarding unexplained aerial sightings and classified research.

Trump Signals First Release of UFO Files Soon

Speaking at an event organised by Turning Point USA in Phoenix, Trump said the review of classified records is already underway and that initial releases could happen in the near future.

“As you remember, I recently directed the Secretary of War to begin releasing government files relating to UFOs and unexplained aerial phenomenon,” Trump said.

“This process is well underway, and we found many very interesting documents, I must say, and the first releases will begin very, very soon,” he added.

Earlier Directive to Review ‘Alien and Extraterrestrial’ Files

The latest announcement follows Trump’s February directive to Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and other agencies to review government files related to Alien activity.

At the time, Trump cited intense public curiosity surrounding alien life and unexplained aerial sightings.

“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War and other relevant Departments and Agencies to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs),” he said.

Trump Criticises Barack Obama Over Classified Information

Trump’s comments came shortly after he criticised former US President Barack Obama, accusing him of previously revealing classified details related to alien life and UFO investigations.

However, no official confirmation of such disclosures has been publicly documented.

Reports of UFO Sightings Near Ohio Base Add to Speculation

Trump’s remarks also follow reports of unusual aerial activity near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base — a facility historically linked to aerospace research.

According to reports, witnesses observed a large triangular craft with glowing lights near the base on April 8. The object was described as moving silently in formation before splitting apart mid-flight.

The sightings occurred weeks after retired Major General William Neil McCasland reportedly went missing from his home in New Mexico on February 28.

Authorities said McCasland, aged 68, left home carrying only a .38-calibre revolver and hiking boots.

Growing Demand for Transparency on UFO Research

Interest in UFO and UAP disclosures has intensified in recent years, with lawmakers and researchers urging the US government to release long-classified data.

The Pentagon has previously acknowledged multiple unexplained aerial incidents recorded by military pilots, adding credibility to calls for broader disclosure.

Trump’s announcement signals that the first wave of declassified documents could soon shed new light on decades of secret investigations.
