Parama Ekadashi, one of the most sacred observances dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is being celebrated on June 11, 2026. According to Hindu beliefs, this Ekadashi holds special spiritual significance and is considered highly beneficial for those seeking peace, prosperity, success, and relief from obstacles. Devotees observe fasting, prayers, charity, and special evening rituals to seek divine blessings.
As per the Hindu Panchang, the Ekadashi Tithi began at 9:27 PM on June 10 and will conclude at 7:06 PM on June 11. Since the tithi is present at sunrise, the fast is being observed on Thursday, June 11.
Four Auspicious Places To Light A Lamp On Parama Ekadashi
1. North-East Corner Of The House
The north-east direction, known as Ishan Kon, is considered the most sacred area of a home. Lighting a ghee lamp in this corner or near the home temple during the evening is believed to attract positive energy, peace, and prosperity while seeking the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
2. Beneath A Peepal Tree
Offering a mustard oil lamp under a Peepal tree during the evening is regarded as highly auspicious. Religious traditions associate the Peepal tree with divine energies, and devotees believe this ritual helps reduce difficulties and brings relief from long-pending problems.
3. At The Main Entrance
Placing a lamp near the main doorway is believed to protect the household from negative influences and invite happiness and abundance. Traditionally, the lamp is placed on the right side of the entrance while facing outward.
4. In A Vishnu Temple
Visiting a Vishnu temple and offering a lamp before the deity is considered a powerful act of devotion. Many devotees perform this ritual to seek success, spiritual growth, and blessings for the well-being of their family.
Important Guidelines While Lighting A Lamp
- Avoid placing the lamp directly on bare ground. Place a few rice grains, black sesame seeds, or flower petals underneath first.
- Ghee lamps and sesame oil lamps are considered especially auspicious on Ekadashi.
- Cotton wicks or sacred red thread (mouli) can be used for the ritual.
- Some traditions recommend adding a few black gram (urad dal) grains to the oil when lighting a lamp at the entrance in remembrance of ancestors.
Significance Of Deep Daan
Deep Daan, the offering of light, symbolises the removal of darkness, negativity, and ignorance. On Parama Ekadashi, this simple spiritual practice is believed to strengthen positive energy, bring inner peace, and deepen one’s connection with the divine.
Parana Time For Parama Ekadashi 2026
Devotees observing the fast can perform Parana (breaking the fast) on June 12, 2026. The most auspicious time for Parana is between 5:47 AM and 9:00 AM. The Dwadashi Tithi will remain until 4:06 PM, allowing additional time for those unable to break the fast during the morning muhurat.
By observing these sacred rituals with devotion and sincerity, devotees believe they can invite prosperity, harmony, good fortune, and Lord Vishnu’s blessings into their lives.
