Brazil’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Haiti at the FIFA World Cup 2026 was overshadowed by an injury scare involving star forward Raphinha, who was forced off before halftime with apparent hamstring tightness.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed after the match that the Barcelona winger will undergo medical evaluation to determine the severity of the issue, raising concerns ahead of Brazil’s crucial final group-stage fixture.

Raphinha Injury Clouds Brazil’s First World Cup Win

After opening their campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Morocco, Brazil responded in style with a dominant performance against Haiti in Philadelphia.

However, celebrations were tempered when Raphinha was substituted in the 40th minute after appearing to suffer discomfort in his hamstring. The Brazilian star was replaced by Bournemouth youngster Rayan.

The injury has triggered anxiety within the Brazilian camp, particularly given Raphinha’s recent history of hamstring-related problems.

Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said the medical team would assess the extent of the injury before any conclusions are drawn.

“We will evaluate Raphinha tomorrow. Right now, we don’t know exactly what happened,” the Brazil coach said.

Lucas Paqueta Admits Team Is Concerned

Brazil midfielder Lucas Paqueta acknowledged that the squad is worried about the winger’s condition.

“I think we are all concerned. We hope it is nothing serious. We still don’t know anything because he has to undergo medical examinations,” Paqueta said after the match.

Raphinha has been one of Brazil’s most influential attacking players in recent months, making his fitness a major concern as the tournament progresses.

Matheus Cunha And Vinicius Jr Lead Brazil Revival

Despite the injury setback, Brazil delivered the statement performance many expected after their underwhelming opening draw.

The five-time world champions started aggressively and thought they had taken an early lead when Raphinha finished from Bruno Guimaraes’ through ball, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.

Brazil eventually broke the deadlock midway through the first half.

A powerful effort from Vinicius Jr was parried by Haiti goalkeeper Johny Placide, but Matheus Cunha reacted quickest to bundle the rebound into the net despite desperate attempts from Haitian defenders to clear the danger.

Cunha Scores Twice As Brazil Take Control

The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker doubled Brazil’s lead shortly afterwards.

Latching onto a perfectly weighted pass from Vinicius Jr, Cunha surged into the penalty area and fired a powerful shot into the roof of the net at the near post.

The goal capped an impressive first-half display from the forward, who constantly troubled Haiti’s defence with his movement and finishing.

Vinicius Adds Third Before Half-Time

Vinicius Jr then put the match beyond doubt before the interval.

Taking advantage of Haiti’s high defensive line, the Real Madrid star raced through on goal and calmly slotted a low finish beyond Placide to make it 3-0.

The goal crowned another influential performance from Vinicius, who was directly involved in all three Brazilian goals.

Haiti Show Fight But Brazil Remain Comfortable

Haiti emerged with greater attacking intent after the break and created a handful of opportunities.

Defender Ricardo Ade came closest to scoring when his glancing header from a corner forced goalkeeper Alisson Becker into an excellent reflex save.

Brazil, however, remained firmly in control and nearly added a fourth goal through Endrick, but the youngster’s effort was ruled out for offside.

Brazil Well Placed For Knockout Qualification

The victory moves Brazil to four points from two matches in Group A, level with Morocco but ahead on goal difference.

The result leaves Ancelotti’s side in a strong position to qualify for the Round of 32 heading into their final group-stage clash against Scotland.

For Haiti, the defeat confirms their elimination from the tournament despite a spirited second-half performance.

Brazil’s immediate focus will now shift to Raphinha’s fitness, with fans and team officials hoping the injury is minor and does not affect the winger’s participation in the remainder of the World Cup campaign.
