CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke alleged that Delhi Police assaulted two students setting up a library at Jantar Mantar as Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike continued.

July 2, 2026: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Thursday alleged that Delhi Police assaulted two students who were setting up a library at the Jantar Mantar protest site. In a post on X, Dipke shared photographs and videos purportedly showing injuries on the students and claimed they were attacked while trying to encourage protesters to read books. He further alleged that police personnel questioned the students after the incident and asked them to prove they had been assaulted. Delhi Police had not issued an official response to the allegations at the time of reporting.

Dipke also accused ACP Ajay Sharma and his team of throwing away books, including those on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Bhagat Singh, during the incident. He demanded the officer’s immediate suspension, alleging that discarding the books was disrespectful to the two historical figures. The claims have not been independently verified.

The allegations came as climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike at Jantar Mantar entered its fifth day. Dipke claimed Wangchuk’s health was deteriorating, alleging that his blood sugar and blood pressure had dropped significantly, and held the government responsible for any adverse outcome. He also renewed his demand for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. Meanwhile, six members of the All India Students’ Association (AISA) continued their indefinite hunger strike, while Dipke announced plans to expand the protest by raising issues including electoral roll revision.
