Freshly released documents related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein have placed two of the world’s most famous illusionists — David Blaine and David Copperfield — under renewed public scrutiny.
While neither magician has been charged with any offence connected to Epstein, newly surfaced records have detailed social interactions, emails, and events linking them to the convicted sex offender, raising questions about the nature of their associations.
The Goldfish Trick Linked To Epstein’s Townhouse
David Blaine is widely recognised for one of his most unusual stunts — swallowing live goldfish and later releasing them alive into a fishbowl. The trick, performed years ago in front of filmmaker Woody Allen, became a memorable moment in the world of magic.
However, newly revealed records suggest that the performance took place inside Epstein’s New York townhouse. According to reports citing US Justice Department files, an email sent by Epstein in April 2013 referenced Blaine planning to perform the goldfish stunt for Woody Allen and filming it at his residence.
Further messages from Epstein’s assistant, Lesley Groff, indicated that Blaine later returned to the property to complete filming for the same project.
Emails Suggest Years of Social Interaction
Documents also point to communication between Epstein and Blaine between 2012 and 2016. Some references suggest Blaine attended gatherings at Epstein’s home as early as 2003.
One video mentioned in the records reportedly shows Blaine performing a magic trick for Bill Gates at an Epstein-hosted event.
The documents further indicate that Epstein attempted to introduce Blaine to political figures and arranged social gatherings. In one 2015 email, Epstein wrote that Blaine had missed an event featuring “amazing girls,” though the records do not specify the ages or identities of those referenced.
The files also refer to a 2017 allegation against Blaine that did not result in charges. Blaine denied the claim at the time. Shortly after media coverage of the allegation, Epstein reportedly contacted Blaine offering support.
David Copperfield’s Association Also Documented
Separate records also mention David Copperfield, placing him among several prominent figures who socialised with Epstein following the financier’s 2008 guilty plea.
Photographs included in the documents show Copperfield alongside Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell at various locations. Some of these images appear to have been taken on Epstein’s private island, Little Saint James.
Other photos were reportedly taken at Musha Cay, a luxury island property owned by Copperfield.
Messages from Copperfield to Epstein date back to 2005, although the exact timeline of their relationship remains unclear.
FBI Document Raised Questions During Earlier Investigation
One of the most notable revelations involves an internal Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) document from 2007. At the time, Epstein was facing sex trafficking allegations in Florida, while Copperfield was separately being investigated over a sexual assault allegation in Washington state.
Copperfield denied the allegation, and it did not lead to charges.
According to the internal FBI note, investigators planned to interview witnesses to determine whether the relationship between Copperfield and Epstein involved illegal activity. The document also mentioned efforts to establish whether the two men shared any “predilection for minors.”
Despite these references, no charges were filed against Copperfield in relation to Epstein.
No Charges Filed Against Either Magician
Authorities have confirmed that neither David Blaine nor David Copperfield has been charged with any crime related to Epstein.
However, the release of these documents has reignited debate about the extent of Epstein’s social network, which included celebrities, political figures, and business leaders.
The ongoing disclosures continue to draw attention to Epstein’s wide-ranging connections and the lasting impact of his criminal case.
