Federal prosecutors revealed chilling new details on Monday, April 13, 2026, regarding the attack on the San Francisco home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. According to the Department of Justice, the suspect, 20-year-old Daniel Moreno-Gama, traveled from Texas with the explicit intent to assassinate Altman and other AI leaders.
This announcement follows a weekend of high tension for Altman, whose home was also the site of a separate drive-by shooting incident involving two other suspects just 48 hours later.
The Attack: A Trail of Violence
Prosecutors outlined a calculated path of destruction carried out by Moreno-Gama on Friday, April 10:
The Residence: Moreno-Gama allegedly lobbed a Molotov cocktail at the gates of Altman’s luxury home in the Russian Hill neighborhood.
The HQ: He then fled on foot to OpenAI’s San Francisco headquarters, where he attempted to smash through the glass entrance using a chair.
