The former Pakistan Prime Minister received another round of treatment for a serious eye condition while in custody

April 28, 2026: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment of his eye condition and later returned to prison. Khan, who has been diagnosed with Central Retinal Vein Occlusion, received his fourth intravitreal anti-VEGF injection as part of ongoing monthly treatment. Doctors confirmed that he remained clinically stable and showed signs of improvement.

Medical officials said Khan underwent detailed examination, including optical coherence tomography, before receiving the injection under medical supervision. After the procedure, he was discharged with follow-up advice and sent back to Adiala Jail, where he has been lodged since his conviction in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Meanwhile, his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and family members have reiterated demands for his transfer to a private hospital with access to personal doctors and family supervision. Party chairman Gohar Ali Khan stated that proper medical care under family oversight is a fundamental right, as concerns over Khan’s health and treatment conditions continue.
