Iran launched new attacks across the Gulf after US airstrikes on Iranian targets, triggering regional alerts

June 10, 2026: The conflict in the Middle East intensified sharply on Wednesday after Iran launched fresh retaliatory strikes across the region following US airstrikes on Iranian targets. The United States blamed Tehran for an incident involving an American Apache attack helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz, prompting military action that further escalated tensions. In response, Iran targeted locations in Bahrain, Kuwait and areas linked to US military presence.

Kuwait and Bahrain activated their air defence systems and issued emergency alerts as Iranian missiles approached. Jordan’s military also reported intercepting several missiles allegedly aimed at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a facility known to host American military assets. Authorities in the region said no casualties were immediately reported, while security agencies continued to assess the situation and recover missile debris.

The latest confrontation has placed renewed pressure on already fragile ceasefire efforts between regional powers. Diplomatic attempts to secure a lasting peace have repeatedly been disrupted by military incidents, while ongoing hostilities involving Israel, Iran and Hezbollah continue to fuel instability. The escalating conflict has also heightened concerns over global energy supplies, economic uncertainty and the risk of a wider regional war involving multiple countries.
