May 21, 2026: Hamza Burhan, a terrorist allegedly linked to the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, has reportedly been shot dead in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. According to sources, unidentified assailants targeted him in the area, and he died on the spot. Burhan was believed to be associated with Pakistan-based terror networks and was considered an important figure connected to the Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel.

The Pulwama terror attack took place on February 14, 2019, on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, which triggered nationwide outrage and led to India’s Balakot airstrike on terrorist camps in Pakistan. Security agencies had reportedly kept Hamza Burhan under close watch for years due to his alleged involvement in terror operations.

Hamza Burhan, whose real name was Arjumand Gulzar Dar, was also known by the alias “Doctor”. He was linked to the Al Badr terror outfit and was declared a terrorist under the UAPA by the Indian government in 2022. Sources claimed he masterminded the 2020 grenade attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama and was involved in terrorist recruitment activities. Reports also stated that he had been living in Pakistan since 2015 and was serving as Principal of the Abbas Institute of Medical Science in Muzaffarabad at one point. Following his killing, security was tightened in the region, though authorities have not officially identified the attackers or revealed the motive behind the incident.
