Rainy-season commutes often mean muddy streets, standing water, and tired, grimy feet by the end of the day. This simple 10-minute home soak helps cleanse the skin, wash away street contaminants, and give your feet the refreshing relief they need after a wet, monsoon commute.

1. Rinse first. Before anything else, rinse your feet thoroughly under clean running water using a gentle antibacterial soap to strip away surface mud and grime before you begin the soak.

2. Prepare the soak. Fill a small basin with lukewarm water up to ankle level. Avoid hot water, as it strips natural oils — the temperature should feel comfortable enough for a full ten-minute soak.

3. Add Epsom salt. Dissolve about two tablespoons of Epsom salt into the water. Its magnesium content helps draw out toxins, soothes sore muscles from walking through the rain, and reduces swelling.

4. Add tea tree oil. Mix in three to four drops of tea tree essential oil, known for its natural antifungal and antibacterial properties that help fight odor-causing bacteria and guard against fungal infections.

5. Soak and relax. Submerge your feet fully for ten minutes, letting the warm water soften calluses, flush out microbes around the nail beds, and help you unwind after a damp, dreary day.

6. Exfoliate gently. Use a pumice stone or soft washcloth to scrub the soles and heels, removing softened dead skin and leaving feet smooth and refreshed.

7. Dry completely. Pat your feet dry with a clean towel, paying special attention to the spaces between your toes — trapped moisture there can lead to fungal issues like athlete’s foot.

8. Moisturize. Finish with a light foot lotion or aloe vera gel to lock in moisture, restore the skin’s barrier, and keep feet soft and protected.
