The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday officially announced a 15-member men’s squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2026, scheduled to take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Top-order batter Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed to lead the side as captain, while the hard-hitting Abdul Samad will serve as his deputy.

The prestigious multi-sport continental event will feature cricket in the explosive T20 format, with the men’s tournament running from September 24 to October 3 at the Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture.

The 30-year-old Farhan brings vital international experience to the leadership role, having represented Pakistan in 46 T20Is, amassing 1,305 runs, which includes two centuries and 10 half-centuries. His vice-captain, Abdul Samad, has featured in five T20Is and brings additional firepower to the squad.

In a clear nod toward nurturing future talent, the national selection committee has named four uncapped players in the roster: Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat, and Saad Masood, all of whom are vying to make their maiden international T20I appearances on Japanese soil.

To fine-tune their preparations, 14 of the 15 selected squad members will join a high-performance White-Ball Camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. The specialized conditioning camp will run from June 15 to June 18, under the strict supervision of national coaches and the PCB medical staff.

This camp forms a crucial component of the PCB’s broader initiative, which will see 49 domestic and international players split across red-ball and white-ball programs to elevate individual skill development, tactical acumen, and peak fitness standards ahead of a packed international calendar.
