Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has reacted to the shocking Pune murder case involving the death of 26-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal, stating that parents should not be held responsible for the actions of their children. Her comments come amid growing public outrage over the alleged crime that has stunned the city and sparked widespread debate on social media.
Taking to her Instagram story on Friday, Kangana addressed the incident and reflected on how modern influences such as social media, artificial intelligence, and personal associations are shaping human behaviour. She emphasized that it is no longer accurate to judge families solely based on the actions of their children, given the complexity of today’s digital and social environments.

In her statement, Kangana wrote that individuals today often lead “parallel lives” shaped by online presence and external influences. She added that people carefully curate their public image, making it difficult to fully understand their true nature. According to her, “parents cannot be blamed” as children are increasingly influenced by factors beyond the home, including social media platforms and peer groups.
The reaction comes in connection with the case involving Siya Goyal, aged 20, and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary, both of whom have been arrested in connection with the murder of Ketan Agarwal. The duo is currently in judicial custody as investigations continue.
According to police reports, Ketan Agarwal allegedly died after being pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort. Authorities claim that Siya and Chetan conspired to kill him after a series of alleged failed attempts. Investigators believe the first attempt took place on June 14, when Ketan was allegedly pushed from the fort but survived after grabbing onto a bush.
Police further allege that Siya misled Ketan during that incident by claiming she had spotted a snake, allowing the situation to be defused before they left the location. Days later, she allegedly convinced him to return to the fort, where Chetan was also present. This time, investigators say both accused pushed him into the gorge, resulting in his death.
Initially, the case was treated as an accidental fall, with Siya reportedly claiming that Ketan slipped due to strong winds while taking photographs. However, inconsistencies in her statements and behaviour during questioning raised suspicion, leading to a deeper investigation.
Authorities also revealed that Siya and Chetan had exchanged over 2,000 phone calls in the last seven months. Police further claim that the duo had prepared multiple contingency plans in case earlier attempts failed. During interrogation, both accused reportedly blamed each other for planning the crime.
The case has sparked widespread discussion about relationships, trust, and the growing role of digital influence in shaping behaviour among young individuals.
