As pre-monsoon rains sweep across several parts of India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms in multiple states. While the cool weather brings relief from the intense summer heat, getting drenched in rain without proper care can increase the chances of seasonal illnesses and infections.

States such as Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala are expected to receive heavy rainfall, while Delhi-NCR may witness moderate rain along with thunderstorms. Parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra could also experience isolated hailstorms.

Health experts advise taking a few simple precautions after getting caught in the rain to avoid falling sick during the monsoon season.

Change Wet Clothes Immediately

Wet clothes and shoes can lower body temperature and create a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. It is important to change into dry and comfortable clothing as soon as possible after coming indoors.
